Moving on…

Well, it’s done! Last week I finished my Masters Degree in Jazz Trombone from the Manhattan School of Music! I wish I could say it was a breeze but in all actuality, it was very difficult but absolutely worth it. It was great getting to learn from Jazz greats like Wycliffe Gordon, Dave Liebman, Phil Markowitz and Bobby Sanabria.

With such an all-consuming season completed, I’m enjoying some down time and opportunities to work on new things like the Euphonium and building my Trumpet chops. I’m also excited to devote more time to the Drumadics and to be in the studio next month recording my Sackbut Revival compositions.

The biggest change though is that I finally have time and energy to keep my apartment clean! Dishes are done, bed is made and I’m trying to cook a lot more. Back to the way life used to be before this whole masters degree business. I’ve even been getting up with Emily to make breakfast for her before she heads off to work.

It’s a new season and like spring, a very welcome change!

Daylight 2.0

by Justin Brink
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

This is a new tune I’m working on.  Just a draft so far but I think it has potential.  I recorded it on Garage Band and threw down a quick drum part with my Cajon to get an idea for the beat. Excited to see where this goes.
